2024 BEIT JIDU X NIZAR CALENDAR

The Beit Jidu calendar - creating a space for the SWANA community and beyond where we can all coexist and celebrate each other 💚

Another collaboration with Nizar (@nizaridi), we used two different years - 1968 & 2024 as they shared the same dates in the week as each other. Honouring hour past while celebrating our present. 

Each fruit of the month is one that is in season that month in the Middle East. The leaves and foliage we used represent the greenery that are big parts of our culture and food. We also used flowers that represent various countries within the Middle East. 

We’ve added a birthday each month from from person in every country in the MENA community ❤️ if you don’t know who they are, it’s the perfect opportunity to learn about and connect with a special presence that made their mark. 

We want people to see themselves in this calendar and feel represented. We’re hoping to reframe the Eurocentric outlook on our daily practices & aim for this to a be small but impactful step 💚
